Pounamu · Sterling Silver · Two Lineages
Fragments of Aotearoa NZ brings together two craft traditions through stone and metal.
Each piece of pounamu is individually shaped and worked by Kawene Reece Thompson of Ngaherebound, bringing his Māori heritage and relationship with pounamu to the collection.
The stone then passes into the hands of third-generation jeweller Nicolas Lightbody of Lightbody Jewellery, where it is brought together with sterling silver through a metalworking tradition carried through generations of his Celtic family.
Two makers. Two lineages. Two materials.
Pounamu and silver, brought together in Aotearoa.
Every fragment differs naturally in colour, markings, shape and character. The piece you choose is uniquely yours.
Pounamu has a long and meaningful tradition of being given to others, but a fragment may also be chosen for yourself, for its character, your connection to the stone, or simply because one speaks to you.
Choose your fragment. Carry it with you.
About Pounamu
Pounamu is the national stone of Aotearoa New Zealand, the bones of the land, woven deep into its culture and identity. Revered by Māori as a taonga, it carries mana that accumulates over time and through the hands it passes between. To hold pounamu is to hold a piece of this place.
